Facial Treatment at Sothys Just Now

flower tea

Sothys originated in France as headquarters and was founded in 1946. Sothys, a world of extremely refined sensuality, a legendary name that represents excellence and prestige in beauty salons and spas all over the world. In Penang, it is a franchise business with outlets in Gurney Paragon with a salon for treatment and in Gurney Plaza near Parkson in a counter selling the retail products.

I was checking my over 20k plus points of Manis. As there were no more vouchers like Tesco which is a hot item, I decided to check out Health and Beauty under Rewards redemption and promptly redeemed 7,500 points for 30% discount on treatment at Sothys. I called up the outlet in Queensbay Mall, but no one picked up the phone! Hence, I called Gurney Paragon instead and made an appointment today at 6:00 pm.

Above is flower tea in a nice flowery teacup where I had drunk half before remembering to capture it using my iPhone 6. Winnie, the only attendant recommended Moisture Glow and Radiance, on item 5 for me after asking some questions and filling up a form.

Here at the counter, are their diverse range of products to cater to all skin types from whitening, to anti-aging, sun-block, rash break-ups and much more.

Sothys counter

More view of the ambiance at the small counter here. Apparently, I learned from Winnie that the boss is a male with 2 outlets. One in Gurney Paragon and another in Gurney Plaza.

The treatment of Moisture Glow at RM 210 with 30% discount consists of the following for 1 and a half hours:

1. Cleansing Milk
2. Comfort Lotion
3. Biological Skin Peel (Exfoliant)
4. Streamer (Extraction / Eyebrow shaper)
5. Ampoule / Serum
6. Modelling Cream (Massage)
7. Hydrasmoothing Mask
8. Ampoule / Serum for Eye Contour
9. Moisturiser
10. Sun Block (if necessary)

Sothys receipt

After a discount of 30% from $210, I pay only $147 with 6% GST included. Also got another cup of flower tea upon completion and a free sample of radiant moisturizer to try. Not bad for a first time experience at Sothys Gurney Paragon.

How Rich are you? Here is the Benchmark

Credit goes to KCLau for this article: How rich are you? Most people are reluctant to answer because there are only 1% of the population are rich! However, if you are to respond to such a question honestly, what would it be? Would you answer “I have two houses, three cars, a few FD, etc.”, or “I am worth RM300,000?, or “I earn RM20,000 a month” etc.

There are many ways to state our wealth. In fact, wealth is more appropriate to be indicated by “time”, not the amount of “asset” we have.

This is the formula:

Wealth = How long we can continue and maintain our lifestyle without working?

According to the above formula, this is how we should state our wealth:
I can maintain my current lifestyle for ten years without working. How long would it be for you? How wealthy are you? 3 months? 1 year? I read the book The Millionaire Next Door back in 2001. It is a marvelous book!

Multiply your age times your realized pretax annual household income from all sources except inheritances. Divide by ten. This, less any inherited wealth, is what your net worth should be.

One’s expected net worth (ENW) = Age X(Realised Pre-tax Annual Household Income exclude inherited income)/10

Example, Mr. Lee’s annual income is RM100,000, age 35.
Lee’s expected net worth = 35 X RM100,000 /10 = RM350,000.
According to Dr. Thomas J. Stanley (the author), there are three categories of wealth accumulator:

1. PAW – Prodigious Accumulator of Wealth
2. AAW – Average Accumulator of Wealth
3. UAW – Under Accumulator of Wealth

If Mr. Lee’s net worth is RM800,000, which is more than two times of ENW, he is a PAW.
If Mr. Lee’s net worth is RM50,000 only, which is less than half of ENW, he is a UAW.

Let’s calculate ours, which category do you belong to?

Simply, just divide your age by 10, and multiply it by your current income. This should give a rough estimate of your expected net worth should be.

Going Down South Tomorrow

Tomorrow, I shall be going down south to KL with my colleague early in the morning. We will return by Wednesday. I have already been booked for an MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) on Thursday at 9:30am at a local hospital for tendonitis and frozen shoulder. The medication and doctor’s consultation of $50 cost a total of $98.05. This is just the beginning and many more visits and thank goodness, I am covered by Prudential insurance and SOCCO. The maximum one can claim from Prudential is $3,000. MRI is about $800 in another hospital that I had gone for the same condition 3 years ago. My colleague will also visit his varsity mates who will gather there for a reunion at a local club in KL.

Meanwhile, Leia, my Pomeranian puppy was sent to pet boarding yesterday while the 4 Holland Lop rabbits were sent to pet boarding during dinner time. This frees us of our time taking care of furry kids!

So Busy Hustling

I flew back by Firefly yesterday afternoon having gone to KL early in the morning and waking up at 5:00am to catch the 6:50am flight with boarding time at 6:20am. When we came back, went to collect company’s t-shirts that are ready for payment to pass over 10 pieces to our workers in KL. Since they work in a factory, they have to wear uniforms to work and get permission to enter the premise to work. I also have to revise some of Trip101 articles which are thankfully, not many for this month.

Later tonight, have to print out old quotations for amendments to existing client and then revised the BQ for submission of tender by 12:00noon on Monday. On Tuesday, it was scheduled to settle the GST payment for the months of July to September. This morning, also went for physiotherapy for about 1 hours on my right arm, costing me $75.

Later on after dinner, have to buy a set of ink cartridges and paper that is running out, due to daily printing of enquiries, quotations, etc. Hence, this blog was unattended for the past few days due to work commitment. I also have dozens of trip101 articles to write and complete.

31 Days of Productivity

31 Days of Productivity

The above infographic showcases 31 days of productivity. Here are some of them that I shall pick up at random. Drink water as soon as you wake up. It is recommended to drink 2 glasses each morning before breakfast due to the 8 hours of fast or sleep. Organise your workspace and declutter unnecessary stuffs. Meditate for 10 minutes to recharge your inner being and rejuvenate your soul from the hustle and bustle of working life. Choose one task and automate it or delegate it. Let someone better do the troubleshooting if that is your weakness and spend productive time doing something else that you are good at and earns you more money.

Don’t spend too much time doing mundane things that appear to be your weakness and instead, concentrate on doing something which is your strong point. Eat a healthy meal such as fruits and vegetables, minus the carbohydrates if possible. And don’t forget to hug someone who loves you; could be your pet! 🙂

Reward yourself for your biggest accomplishment of the month. And whatever money you made, try to spend less than you earn for a golden retirement in years to come. Hopefully it is not woeful one like a real case in point: an accountant was afflicted with diabetes and could no longer work; finally without constant income, he had to sell off his house and live in the streets, becoming homeless with no family or friends to visit him. Such is a destitute case despite being a professional in his younger years! This is one extreme case, but we always hope and pray for the best and be generous to others so that wealth will come to you. What you fear in your heart may become a reality. So always focus on positive thoughts despite all the negative news and events happening worldwide.
