Malaysian Jun Hoong bags gold at World Aquatics Championships

PETALING JAYA: National diver Cheong Jun Hoong (pic) claimed a truly stunning win in the women’s 10m platform individual final at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Jun Hoong became the nation’s first ever diving world champion after chalking 397.50 points to come out tops in a starry final field of 12 participants on Wednesday evening.

Jun Hoong, a surprise entry for the individual platform, was ranked fourth after the first two dives but moved to the top spot and never looked back after that.

It was an unexpected comeback for Jun Hoong considering she was the seventh ranked diver in the final based on the results from the semi-finals stage.

Victory was certainly sweet for the 28-year-old from Perak, who had partnered Pandelela Rinong to take bronze in the women’s 10m platform synchro on Sunday.

Not only did she win Malaysia’s first-ever diving gold medal at the world championships but Jun Hoong beat two top Chinese divers — Si Yajie and Ren Qian.

Si Yajie, the world champion in 2013 and the Rio Olympics silver medallist, settled for silver with 396.00 points.

Ren Qian, the reigning Olympic champion, got the bronze with 391.95 points.

Defending champion Kim Kuk-hyang was sixth with 360.00 points.

Pandelela, who got bronze in the event at the previous edition in Kazan, Russia two years ago, managed ninth place (322.40).

HyppTV Carnival @ Sunway Pyramid – Come and Join Us!

I received an email today of the happening event starting today at Sunway Pyramid of HyppTV Carnival by Telekom Malaysia. Since I am in KL now, I might just drop by sometime this week. It looks to be a fun and awesome time at the Orange Concourse of Sunway Pyramid, which is near my small condo.

There is also meet and greet your local artists as shown above. Since Malaysia is a majority Malay country, it looks like the artists are all Malays to cater to the local crowd. What’s more, check below.

You can also get to meet funnyman, Mr Bean or most probably his lookalike and puss in boots characters, amongst others. There is also the ‘harimau’ or tiger mascot for KL 2017 games.

As for me, now is to work and update the quotation and work for as long as all night if necessary, so that tomorrow is visiting time at the above happening event.

Sent my Pom to a Pet Hotel

This morning, my partner and I sent our cute almost 3-month old Pomeranian to a pet hotel nearby for $30 per night and $35 including bathing and grooming. She is so cute and adorable. Keeps licking my hands, but sometimes forgets that biting is not allowed as puppies playfully bite most of the time. Now that she is gone for a stay of 3 days or so at the pet hotel, I am beginning to miss her and see the emptyness of her toys, cage, harness, leash, etc. These are just lifeless objects as opposed to my hyperactive pup. Dogs and puppies certainly make a very thoroughly loyal friend without conditions or ulterior motives. All they need is shelter and food and play time to exercise. She is already a member of the family and wholely depends on us to feed her. In return, we get her unlimited loyalty for life.

My Puppy Bit off the Wire

I should have tied Leia, my puppy to the cage instead of allowing it to roam about in the room, biting off my file corners and then the wires with splitter to the fax machine and internet line. Luckily I have a spare wire to connect directly to the internet and now the fax machine / phone cannot be used. She is still not toilet trained yet but is more obedient when sent to pet shop / hotel for a stay or 2. Now my internet can be used already with the direct connection to the socket and I took the opportunity to update this blog once every 2 – 3 days. Readers and visitors hardly comment but some are stalking this blog. The ubiquitous Google also checks for porn pictures or any illegal content like gambling, etc. 3 things are a no-no to talk about here:

1) politics
2) pornography
3) gambling / smoking

According to the internet, Queen Victoria had many Pomeranians which originated from Germany and then spread to UK. The famous scientist and late painter Micheal Angelo also owned Pomeranians like the breed of my puppy. It is more costly than Poodles that require high maintenance to trim its fur.

2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards

A world champion has been announced at the 2017 Skytrax World Airline Awards: AirAsia took the gold as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 9th-year running! Air Asia’s head honcho, Tony Fernandez certainly looked elated in this picture while carrying a lady (probably a staff or his wife!) flanked by his several air stewardesses in their signature red uniforms.

Thank you for your continuous support as it is your loyalty that propelled AirAsia to the top, according to the email that I received.

As always, you can redeem the best AirAsia flight deals on the best travel dates with the AirAsia BIG Loyalty mobile app. Check out today for a rewarding flying experience.

Because of his business acumen, Tony turned an airline on the verge of bankruptcy to a prosperous low-cost airline that is emulated all over the world. The picture above reminds me of Virgin Airlines Boss, Sir Richard Branson scooping up an air stewardess and a photo of him carrying her was snapped for the press publicity.

Thank you, Manis!

Thank you Manis for rewarding me with extra 1,000 points. This is the second time they voluntarily gave me the points, totalling 2,000. Above is a snapshot of my iPhone 6 of the Manis App showing the over 9,000 points. For those of you who have not used this app, it is worth trying as it allows you to key in your merchant name, key in the amount spent, snap the receipt showing the tax invoice number, date and amount and finally upload it within 24 hours of purchase.

Above is another snapshot of my redemption history showing that I have received the Body Shop online $10 voucher with code for purchase, MPH bookstore redemption, Marks & Spenser and Papa Delivery Cheesecake redemption. Do note, however, that the online voucher is around $10 or $20 and you have to top up the rest for the full redemption, depending on what you buy.

My latest redemption a few days ago was a Health Lane pharmacy free velvet pouch for 2,500 points and provided you spend at least $50 at the pharmacy in Kuala Lumpur. That is the advantage of doing business in KL as we go there often for work and just downstairs my apartment in KL is the Health Lane pharmacy of which I am a member.

Be Full of the Consciousness of God

You are probably familiar with the story of how David, with a sling and a stone, slew Goliath, a 10-feet-tall Philistine warrior. But have you ever wondered why David succeeded while the others in the army of Israel did not even dare to face Goliath?

David’s secret was that he was only conscious of victory and not defeat, because he knew a God who had rescued him time and again.

You can just imagine him saying, “One day, I was taking care of my sheep when a lion came and took one of them. I was not willing to settle for that! I went after the lion, caught it by its beard and smote it. The Lord delivered me from the lion’s mouth. On another occasion, a bear came and took one of my flock. I went after the bear and smote it. So the Lord delivered me from the bear too. This same God, who delivered me from the paws of the lion and bear, will also deliver me from this Philistine.” (1 Samuel 17:34–37)

David was conscious of what God had done for him. He knew that God was for him, loved him, favored him and would give him victory again. My friend, you can also remind yourself that the same God, who did tremendous things for you in the past, will do the same for you again.

Be like David, who was conscious only of God’s goodness and faithfulness. Don’t be like the army of Israel. The men were conscious of the negative words of Goliath. I believe that they must have talked about his threats, repeating his words to one another, and as a result, filled their hearts with fear. (1 Samuel 17:11, 24)

Beloved, don’t feed on the negative words of man or the devil. It will only cause you to be anxious and fearful. Feed on God’s Word by reading the Bible and listening to messages about who you are in Christ and what He has done for you. Pump yourself up with God’s Word until you are full of the Spirit and consciousness of God, so that you might know the things that have been freely given to you by God!
