10 Tips to Improve Your Blogging

1. Choose a suitable niche

You can either choose a general topic or a specific niche to blog on, such as finance, recipes, reviews, travel and such. Make the topics interesting and related to your personal experience.

2. Select a good hosting company

To start blogging, you will need a paid server like BlueHost, Exabytes, which guarantees at least 98% uptime. This is to make sure that your blog is read and up. Not down and invisible due to down time or some errors on the hosting site.

3. Choose WordPress

WordPress is free and you can get your hosting company to install WordPress for you at no extra charge. Or just Google around how to install it yourself if you are more tech-savvy. WordPress comes with free and paid plugins to improve and add on the features that you like. For instance, you may like to include a word count for your dashboard as you type.

4. Include Pictures

You can go to Pexels.com or Pixabay.com to get free graphics with no copyright and use them for your website/blog. A picture is worth a thousand words and stands out compared to lines to words. In a nutshell, visitors can see in an instant what the blog is about with attractive images.

5. Make it Personal and Unique

Write about your travel experience, personal recipes, food hunt, photography skills, and many more. Make it unique and do not copy from other people’s blog posts as Google loves unique content.

6. Use Grammarly

To check on your spellings, use Grammarly that is paid to correct the typing errors and grammatical mistakes. This will give more credentials to your blog posts as visitors hate to see too many mistakes. I use a paid version of Grammarly to check my typing in a jiffy and correcting them by clicking on the links.

7. Monetize Your Blog

You can sign up for Google Adsense when you have had enough traffic and many blog posts. It depends on the frequency you blog and the relevance of the topic that will determine whether you get approved or not. If you do not get approved, fret not. There are many other Adsense Alternatives like Clicksor, Bidvertiser and more to monetize your blog which is what it is all about.

8. Sign up for Ezoic or Mediavine

When you reach 25,000 sessions per month or 10,000 hits per month, then you can sign up for Mediavine or Ezoic respectively. Apparently you earn more in a day from high traffic to your blog than from Adsense in a month.

9. Continue Blogging

Just continue to do what you love – blogging and writing – and don’t give up. Check up other bloggers’ posts and sites on why they are so popular and pull in the crowd. Consistency is the key.

10. Use Pinterest

A little known secret or a rather well-known tip is to use Pinterest to draw the crowd to your blog. If is easy to create your Pinterest picture by using Canva and not more than 3 colors for your fonts. Add some related image and your URL or website address and you are good to go. Try to use a white background that is easy on the eyes, rather than the dark background. Most Pinterest users are women.
