Bad Boys for Life the 2020 Movie, Starring Will Smith January 28, 2020 bizadmin Set 17 years after the last film in 2020, Miami detective Marcus Burnett, who just witnessed the birth of his grandson, tells his partner Mike Lowrey his intentions to retire, much to Mike’s chagrin. After a celebration party, Mike is shot by an assassin named Armando. Armando had recently helped stage the prison escape of his mother Isabel Aretas. Armando was sent by Isabel to assassinate all of those responsible, including Mike, for the demise of the Aretas cartel run by her and her husband Benito, who was sent to prison and subsequently died. Despite being told to kill Mike last, Armando targeted him first as he deemed him the biggest threat to their plans. Armando proceeds over the next six months to assassinate everyone else responsible while Mike makes a near-full recovery. Mike demands Marcus’s help to catch the assassin, but Marcus decides to go into retirement, as after Mike’s near death experience Marcus prayed to God that if Mike survives he will never turn to violence again. This causes a fall out between the two friends. [abc] Despite orders from Captain Howard, Mike learns the identity of the arms dealer who sold the ammunition used in his assassination attempt, Booker Grassie. Howard reluctantly brings Mike as a consultant into the tech-driven Advanced Miami Metro Operations (AMMO), led by Mike’s ex-girlfriend Rita. The team goes to a business deal Grassie is holding to obtain evidence to bring him in, but when Mike sees that the buyers are attempting to kill Grassie, Mike attempts but fails to save him. Soon after, Marcus receives a call from an old informant, Carver Remy, warning him that everyone who had protected him had been assassinated and asks for help. Marcus picks up Mike to go to Carver’s home only to see him thrown out and killed. Mike fights Armando and seems to recognize his eyes before Armando escapes. Sometime later, Captain Howard tells Mike it may be time for him to retire as well before he gets himself killed. Howard is subsequently killed by Armando with a sniper rifle. After the captain’s funeral, Marcus decides to help Mike out one last time. Marcus enlists the help of AMMO to track down Grassie’s accountant to find who was sold the ammunition. Marcus identifies the key suspect as Lorenzo “Zway-Lo” Rodriguez, someone Marcus used to coach basketball. They crash a birthday party for Zway-Lo, but Zway-Lo flees. Mike, Marcus, and AMMO give chase but are halted by Armando on a helicopter over the bridge. Armando kills Zway-Lo to get to Mike. Before trying to kill him, Armando says “Hasta el fuego.” Marcus, however, stops Armando with gunfire and Mike jumps into the river to escape. As AMMO is about to be shut down due to their recent failure, Mike explains to Marcus in private that Armando may be his biological son: Before he and Marcus were partners, he was recruited by Captain Howard out of the academy to infiltrate the Aretas cartel. Being deep undercover, he had an affair with Isabel, which led to the birth of Armando as Benito was sterile, and they used to say “Hasta el fuego” to each other. Despite promising to flee with her, Mike ultimately had her arrested as well as Benito knowing how dangerous she was. All of the previous victims killed by Armando were working on the same case. Mike decides to go to Mexico City to confront her alone, but Marcus and AMMO accompany him despite his protests. At the Hidalgo Palace, Mike scolds Isabel for not telling Armando the truth about his father and for raising him to be an assassin. A shootout occurs between AMMO and Isabel’s henchmen which ends when Marcus shoots the pilot of Isabel’s getaway helicopter, causing it to crash into the building setting it ablaze. While Marcus briefly incapacitates Isabel, Mike confronts Armando to try and convince him he is his father. Armando refuses to believe him until Mike insists that Isabel confirm it. Isabel shoots at Mike but strikes Armando instead, after which Rita shoots and kills Isabel. They all escape the burning building, where Mike tells Armando he will have to pay for his crimes, but Mike will be there for him. Sometime later, Rita is named the new police captain while Mike and Marcus, having decided to come out of retirement, are placed in charge of AMMO. Mike later visits a remorseful Armando in prison requesting his help on a new case in exchange for reducing his prison sentence. [abc]

Playing with Fire Starring John Cena January 19, 2020 bizadmin Superintendent Jake Carson (John Cena) is the commanding officer of a group of smoke jumpers in remote California woodlands. Carson is capable in a crisis and takes tremendous pride in his work, diving into dangerous situations to rescue civilians alongside his team – overtly loyal Mark Rogers (Keegan-Michael Key), nervy and neurotic Rodrigo Torres (John Leguizamo) and “Axe” (Tyler Mane), a huge mute who carries his fireman’s axe everywhere. After rescuing three children from a burning cabin, Carson is contacted by the universally admired division commander Richards (Dennis Haysbert). Richards praises Carson’s work and shortlists Carson for his replacement, Carson’s dream job. [abc] Rogers advises Carson that they are responsible for the welfare of the children Brynn (Brianna Hildebrand), Will (Christian Convery), and Zoey (Finley Rose Slater) under the “Safe Haven Laws”, which require law enforcement and first responders to care for children until they are released to a parent or guardian. Carson leaves a voicemail for the children’s mother who texts back saying that they are on their way. Carson’s attempts to complete his application for division commander are undermined by the children running haywire around the station, and the arrival of Carson’s ex-girlfriend, environmental Doctor Amy Hicks (Judy Greer), a local who protests the smoke jumpers taking water from endangered toad habitats to fight fires. Carson tries to offload the children onto Hicks, who refuses. Despite the mayhem, the rest of the smoke jumpers begin to bond with the children, with toddler Zoey warming up the brutish Axe and Torres teaching Will how to navigate dangerous situations. Brynn pays lip service to Rogers’ admiration of Carson, but then stages an escape on the station’s ATV, spilling oil and slashing tires to prevent chase. Carson catches them by off-roading on a little girl’s bike and corners the children on a dirt road. At Will’s prompting, Brynn admits that they are orphans on the run from foster care, fearing that they will be separated. The text messages were from Brynn herself. The group camp out overnight and Carson promises to hold off calling Child Services until after Zoey’s birthday in two days. [abc] The group goes all out in preparing for Zoey’s birthday, and the four smoke jumpers buy presents for Brynn and Will as well. Carson then tells Will a bedtime story about a yeti who was married to his job, had a son, and then died on the job because he was distracted by having a family. Brynn and Hicks are both touched by the story, which fits in with the circumstances of Carson’s father’s death and Carson’s inability to form relationships. The overboard birthday party is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Richards and Child Services. The children flee in Richards’ car and run off the road right on a cliff. Brynn is trapped in her seatbelt. Carson parachutes down to rescue them and with Will’s help, frees Brynn before the car can roll off the cliff. Back at the station, Hicks and the other smoke jumpers bid an emotional farewell to the children. Richards tells Carson that family can be a source of support and that there is more to life than working. Inspired, Carson refuses to release the children to Child Services under the Safe Haven laws and proposes a plan to adopt all three of them. Sometime later, Carson and Hicks get married to the smoke jumpers and their adopted children in attendance. [abc]
Fighting with My Family April 21, 2019 bizadmin In 2002, in Norwich, England, UK, 10-year-old Zak Bevis is engrossed by the WWF (now WWE) King of the Ring pay-per-view event until his younger sister Saraya changes the channel to her favorite program, Charmed. The siblings wrestle, urged on by their parents Rick and Julia. Rick books the children for their first wrestling match where Saraya, initially reluctant to wrestle a boy, goes on to win as planned. At 18, competing under the ring name “Britani Knight”, Saraya and her brother “Zak Zodiac” help their parents train prospective wrestlers while working toward their own promotion. Rick and Julia, struggling financially, ask WWE trainer Hutch Morgan to sign the siblings. He finally agrees to a tryout before a SmackDown taping at The O2 Arena, and tells Saraya to find a different name as they “already have a Britani”. The siblings receive advice from Dwayne Johnson, and Saraya adopts the name Paige from her favorite character on Charmed. The two try out with several other wrestlers and are all belittled by Morgan. He ultimately chooses Paige over the rest, despite her attempt to have Zak signed as well. With her brother’s encouragement, Paige leaves for America while Zak continues wrestling on the British independent circuit, assisting his parents’ wrestling school, and tending to his girlfriend and newborn son. Arriving at NXT in Florida, Paige has difficulty adjusting to the WWE style of entertainment – chiefly, the absence of intergender competition and the inexperience of her fellow female trainees Jeri-Lynn, Kirsten, & Maddison. Paige struggles with performing promos and Morgan’s constant belittlement. Morgan makes it clear to Zak that he will never be signed to WWE, and Zak falls into alcoholism. Paige discovers her parents are selling merchandise of her likeness without her permission and have booked her in a match against Zak scheduled for her Christmas break. At an NXT live event and her in-ring debut, Paige is heckled by the crowd and freezes up, leaving the ring in tears. She decides to bleach her hair blonde and spray tan to look more like her fellow trainees, which only causes more friction between them. After failing an obstacle course, Paige lashes out at the trainees for gossiping about her when they were actually discussing Kirsten, who has been away from her daughter in order to give her a better life. Morgan tells Paige that her brother’s future in WWE would only have been as enhancement talent and signing would have ruined his life. Morgan encourages Paige to quit and return to her family for a happier life. She travels home for the Christmas break. Just before the match against her brother, Paige tells Zak she is leaving WWE. Angry that she is giving up the dream he failed to achieve himself, Zak goes off-script, defeats Paige and then tells their parents her plans to quit, devastating Ricky. After the family finds Zak in a drunken bar fight, Paige admits that Morgan declined to sign Zak to protect him and he needs to focus on what is important in life; his family and coaching children who look up to him. Paige changes her mind after Zak berates her for giving up on their shared dream and she returns to Florida and her original appearance. She drastically improves in training, befriending and encouraging her fellow trainees. Zak quits drinking and returns to training his parents’ students. Morgan brings the trainees to WrestleMania XXX, where Paige is booked in a suite with The Rock and learns she will make her Raw debut the following night against WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee, as recommended by Morgan. Paige makes her Raw debut and again freezes up, but Lee starts the match and unexpectedly puts the Divas Championship on the line. With her family watching on TV, Paige wins the match and the title, finally comfortable enough to say a promo, “This is MY house!”. An epilogue explains that Paige remains the youngest Divas Champion and was an early leader in the ongoing Women’s Revolution, that one of Zak’s trainees, who was blind, became a wrestler, and pokes fun at The Rock’s movie career and Rick selling shares in the family business. The closing credits include footage from the family’s 2012 documentary and Paige’s debut match.
A Dog’s Purpose 2017 Movie March 28, 2017 bizadmin Bailey is a Golden Retriever whose life is shown from his birth to his death and to his reincarnation through four different dog breeds. Each time he is reincarnated, it tells his story from life to death, except in the latest life, where he meets his original owner again. The movie begins in an unspecified year during the 1950s. It is then that the narrator canine begins and ends a very brief life as a wild puppy who is whisked away to the dog pound and quickly put to death. The beginning of his next life is very clearly tied in to the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. As a growing young doggie, Bailey is spotted inside a locked pick-up truck on a hot summer day and is rescued from certain death by a young boy named Ethan and his mother. As the years pass, Ethan grows into a strapping high school football player who falls in love with his classmate Hannah. But events take a dark turn when Ethan’s alcoholic father shoves his mother to the ground in a drunken rage. Ethan orders his father to leave and never come back. A vindictive classmate later throws a lit firecracker into Ethan’s house as a harmless prank which unintentionally results in a catastrophic fire. This would surely have resulted in the deaths of a sound-asleep Ethan and his mother were it not for Bailey’s quick action in rousing them from their beds. Ethan badly fractures his leg, however, during the fall from the second-story window, ending his dreams of an athletic scholarship, and he must go to agricultural school instead. Self-pitying and embittered, he breaks off his relationship with Hannah before leaving for college. Sometime afterwards, an aged Bailey slowly expires at the veterinarian’s office after sharing an eleventh-hour teary goodbye with Ethan. Bailey reincarnates into another dog life, a female German Shepherd K-9 named Ellie, while remembering his previous existence. Ellie is working with an officer, Carlos, from the Chicago Police Department, sometime in the early 1980s. The two form a close relationship which ends after Ellie jumps into a rushing river and saves a kidnapped girl from drowning because he is then shot and mortally wounded during a struggle with the armed kidnapper who was a moment away from killing an unsuspecting Carlos. Reincarnated in the mid-1980s as a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Tino, he forms a bond with Maya, a college student in Atlanta whom he helps to find true love. Maya marries and has a beautiful family who all love the Corgi. As he lies dying of old age in the late 1990s, Tino thanks Maya for giving him one of his best lives. Tino is again reincarnated to a Saint Bernard named Buddy, only to be taken in by an abusive and neglectful “trailer trash” couple sometime during the next decade. Buddy is eventually dumped in an abandoned lot by the alcoholic, roughneck young man and reluctantly sets off in search of a new life. He gradually makes his way to the country area where his first life began without even realizing at first where he is headed. He joyfully reunites with his old master Ethan, who is now at the far end of middle age, living a lonely solitary life and apparently broken in spirit. Ethan, of course, initially has no idea who this wandering Saint Bernard really is and hands him over to the local animal shelter. But he soon has a change of heart and reclaims him. Buddy, sensing that he has finally found the purpose in life that has long evaded him, finds a way to reunite Ethan with a widowed Hannah, and they eventually get married. At the movie’s end, Buddy finally convinces Ethan that he is Ethan’s beloved childhood pet by performing some tricks and responding to key phrases that were known only to the two of them all those many, many long years ago.
