Belated Mother’s Day

Yesterday was Mother’s day and we had a treat at Richard Rivalee, a nonya establishment that’s owned by MBI with an old collonial style bungalow ambience. So many bouquets of flowers on stands were placed by business friends as congratulatory note on its opening about 4 days ago. Richard Rivalee is a designer and chef. He has placed photos taken with the world famous shoe maker, Jimmy Choo plus a few other Taiwanese actresses. The decorations were superb and of high quality.

Mr Rivalee also makes nonya kebayas and beaded shoes. Apart from cooking, he is also a talented designer. There were also buses of China tourists who came here for 3 days to redeem their MBI points via MFace. Rukun tetanga volunteers in uniform were also present to direct traffic as the place was congested with big busses. Most of them were well dressed, wearing high heels despite having to walk long distances and it was jammed packed. Tomei was doing roaring business as many diamond pieces were snapped up in no time.

Be Kind to the Poor

Dad taught me to be kind and generous to the poor. Who knows, some of them could be angels in disguise. Coming from a single parent background, he understands what it is like to be poor while growing up. His dad or grandpa died at the young age of only 39! Hence, we should be generous and not look down on the poor, the disabled, etc. Just imagine ourselves in their shoes and it is not a nice experience. No one wants to be poor, homeless nor disabled by choice.

The other day, I went to post letters and saw a few homeless people sleeping on the walkway at KOMTAR while another group was probably waiting for their free meals by Lighthouse or Kechara Kitchen soup. We should not let wealth get into our heads but remain humble and forgiving. This is because pride comes before a downfall. Many deaths could have been avoided due to pride and ego. Fighting to see who wins is not a solution. We should learn to let God take over and forget the unhappy incidents.

The poor, homeless, disabled and the marginalised should not be ignored. We should channel our resources whether labour or wealth to help these people. We ought to give a comfortable amount and not give till it hurts our pockets. These are desperate times and it calls for action on our part. Many are jobless with some graduates unable to pass the interviews in both Singapore and Malaysia and jobs opportunies are getting scarce. Hence, we should not job hop for greener pastures but instead remain loyal to our company and be grateful for a job with constant income.

Visited Grandpa’s Grave

Yesterday, my youngest sister drove dad, aunt and myself to grandpa’s graveyard to pay respects and then to grandma’s urn in a temple next to her sister-in-law and also uncle’s urn nearby. May perpetual light shine upon their departed souls and that they be in a happier place. Grandma was my roomate for many years before I left for Singapore to study and work. She taught me diligence, hard work and saving up for rainy days. She was also a very strict disciplinarian.

Anyway, grandpa departed at an early age of only 39 due to sickness. My dad was around 8 or so at that time. Being a single parent for grandma, they endured hardship, what more with her constant gambling to make money. In the end she lost more than she gained as the 3 other gamblers colluded with each other cheat her of her cash. Finally, to put food on the table, she sold laksa in the streets and dad had to wash the dishes besides serving them.

Such was the hardship of growing up for my dad and he values working hard, teaching us how to fish to feed for a lifetime. Well, he had earned some but lost some in the share markets and tontine too. Now, his focus is on serving God and volunteers in an old folks’ home.

I was at Quayside for 1 day to read and relax. It was good and enjoyable to be away from the small condo, packed with files and papers all over the tables and counter. It is like an office with a bed where you can take power naps in between work.

Did Micro Jobs

This morning, I did some micro jobs which promptly got approved and my revenue increase a little as I did several of them. Maybe 12 or 13 of them. Then went downstairs to meet up with my priority relationship manager to apply for credit card and then continued with more quotations for clients. Thereafter, went to Sakea Sushi for dinner, bought some vitamins at Watsons at 1st Avenue Mall, went for a ride and then came back to type a BQ quotation and emailed it out. By the time I was done, it was almost 11:00 pm.

Since I am free now, took the liberty to blog and update this site. There is no such thing as get rich quick scheme that works and most are nothing but scams where you cannot withdraw your money but just enjoy the benefits while your hard earned money is being channeled elsewhere for other business or development. You have to read the fine print carefully and if there is nothing in black and white, then don’t invest, even if it is for testing. Nothing beats the old hard work where you save bit by bit and spend less than you earn to become a millionaire.

Real millionaires don’t boast and don’t have to wear out to get rich. Those who wear to get rich and look expensive usually have empty pockets or bank accounts. How do I know this? Well, I was there before and also it was written in the news and financial magazines. They also don’t live in expensive neighbourhoods and pay through their nose of the exorbitant monthly mortgages. Worse still, some even borrowed money from the loan sharks to buy a nice bungalow to look rich. As long as you are confident inside and feel peace, there is no one to impress.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 – 2017 Movie

In 2014, Peter Quill, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Baby Groot are renowned as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Ayesha, leader of the Sovereign race, has the Guardians protect valuable batteries from an inter-dimensional monster in exchange for Gamora’s estranged sister Nebula, who was caught attempting to steal the batteries. After Rocket steals some for himself, the Sovereign attacks the Guardians’ ship with a fleet of drones. The drones are destroyed by a mysterious figure, but the Guardians are forced to crash-land on a nearby planet. The figure reveals himself as Quill’s father, Ego, who invites Quill, accompanied by Gamora and Drax, to his home, while Rocket and Groot remain behind to repair the ship and guard Nebula.

Meanwhile, Ayesha hires Yondu Udonta and his crew, who have been exiled from the greater Ravager community for child trafficking, to recapture the Guardians. They capture Rocket, but when Yondu shows reluctance to turn over Quill, his lieutenant Taserface leads a mutiny with help from Nebula. Taserface imprisons Rocket and Yondu aboard Yondu’s ship and executes his loyalists while Nebula leaves to track down and kill Gamora, whom she blames for all the torture inflicted on her by their father, Thanos. While imprisoned, Rocket and Yondu bond. Groot, together with Yondu loyalist Kraglin, frees Rocket and Yondu and they destroy the ship and its crew as they escape, though not before Taserface tips off the Sovereign fleet.

Ego explains that he is one of the god-like Celestials, and exists in the form of the planet on which they are standing. He assumed a human guise to travel the universe and interact with other species, eventually meeting and falling in love with Quill’s mother Meredith. After Meredith’s death, Ego paid Yondu to collect the young Quill, but Yondu never delivered the boy, and Ego had been searching for his son ever since. He teaches Quill to manipulate the Celestial power within the planet. Nebula arrives at Ego’s planet and tries to kill Gamora, but fails and the pair reach an uneasy alliance when they discover caverns filled with skeletal remains. Ego reveals to Quill that in his travels to thousands of worlds, he planted seedlings upon thousands capable of terraforming them into new extensions of himself, but they could only be activated by the power of a second Celestial. To that end, he impregnated countless women and hired Yondu to collect the children; they all failed to access the Celestial power, so Ego killed them, until he found Quill. Ego uses Quill to activate the seedlings, which begin to consume every world. Quill is hypnotized into helping Ego, but fights back after Ego reveals that he deliberately caused Meredith’s death.

Ego’s pet empath, Mantis, grows close to Drax and warns him, Gamora and Nebula of Ego’s plan just as Rocket, Yondu, Groot and Kraglin arrive. The reunited Guardians reach the core of the planet, where Ego’s brain is housed, and fight the Sovereign’s arriving drones. Rocket makes a bomb out of the stolen batteries that Groot plants on Ego’s brain, while Quill battles Ego with his newfound Celestial powers to allow the other Guardians to escape. The bomb explodes, killing Ego and causing the planet to disintegrate. Yondu sacrifices himself to save Quill, who comes to realize that Yondu did not deliver him to Ego in order to spare him from the fate of Ego’s other progeny, and that Yondu was Quill’s true “daddy”. Having reconciled with Gamora, Nebula still chooses to set out and attempt to kill Thanos. The Guardians hold a funeral for Yondu, which is attended by dozens of Ravager ships, acknowledging Yondu’s sacrifice and accepting him again as a Ravager.

In a series of mid- and post-credit scenes, Kraglin takes up Yondu’s telekinetic arrow and control fin; Ravager leader Stakar Ogord, inspired by Yondu’s sacrifice, reunites with their ex-teammates; Groot starts growing back to normal size, exhibiting typical teenage behavior in the process; Ayesha creates a new artificial being with whom she plans to destroy the Guardians, naming him Adam; and an astronaut discusses several experiences on Earth with a group of uninterested Watchers.

Now in Quayside

I am now in Quayside condo to do my laundry of washing my bedsheet, pillow and bolster cases. There is also a machine dryer to dry up the washed items. I packed dinner along which was part of lunch in half portions. Brought along my book and magazine to read while waiting for the laundry to finish. Also am pleased that I got paid USD 70 via my paypal for 7 articles written for a Singapore website of around 1,000 words plus with free pictures included. It is about things to do in Switzerland and is a curated website where you have to do some research for approval. There are dozens of writers on this content rich site, hence I am lucky to be accepted for all my articles written so far.

Tomorrow is pay day as today is a public holiday and all banks are closed. I took the opportunity to change the bedsheets as my partner has hinted it some days back. Also signed up for some surveys to do in my free time. There is no way to get rich using the quick scheme which cons many people of their hard earned money. Beware of money games, binary systems that predicts whether the stocks will go up or down and promises of software that is automated and correct 70% of the time to help you make money! In fact, it is just the opposite; it helps the owner to make money while you lose money. In stocks, someone will make cash at the expense of another who will lose it instead.

Nothing beats the old traditional way of studying hard and working hard to save up bit by bit to become rich. How do I know this? Well I read the newspapers and 2 articles were written by different experts with sound advice. They are more practical and teach you the delayed gratification method of getting there while eschewing speculation and gambling. In a nutshell, there is no short cut to success. And don’t get hoodwinked into network marketing or MLM of alkaline water, aromatherapy of Lampe Berger and such. Don’t let greed get the better of you, but use common sense to protect your money from tricksters, conmen, etc.

Received 1,000 Manis Points

I am happy to announce that I received 1,000 Manis points for my previous blog post on this amazing free App. From about 5,000+ points or so, it went up to 6,000+ immediately after I emailed back my Manis account name to Carmen. When I checked the rewards, I noticed a new Robinsons’ Marks & Spencer voucher of $10 and promptly redeemed it on the spot as I have purchased from Marks & Spencer before and they have a branch in Gurney Plaza and in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre. This is my 4th redemption. For each $1 that you spent, you get 1 point.

We were in Langkawi recently for a project and bought some liquer, chocolates, nuts, etc. We had lobster and requested for butter style, but instead it was fried lobster which was a disappointment. And it cost us RM 20 / 100 gm for supposedly 700 gm, but looks more like 400-500gm in size. Anyway, the meal of almost $200 for 2 to celebrate my friend’s birthday was snapped with the receipt given and it was accepted. You will need bright lights to snap the receipts for a clearer picture and not grainny in the dark. After cropping to appropriate size, it was uploaded to Manis app for approval.

Above is the snapshot of my iPhone 6 of a successful Manis redemption of the $10 voucher that will arrive in my address in around 10 days time by Pos Laju or registered post. I love this App and I guess I am addicted to snapping receipts both from my own purchase and that of my partner’s to collect points. They also have a Facebook page and you can check it out.

You can also track your expenditure per month, per week and so on. I just wonder how Manis makes money back from all the given vouchers. Otherwise, it is a Great free app for anyone and you will get 500 points immediately upon successful referral and sign up by your friends.

Hope to Attend Star Fit for Life Tomorrow

I am in KL now and we managed to secure a project. After dinner at Da:men, my partner banked in a cheque and then we headed home to rest. For me, it is to update this blog. I hope to attend tomorrow’s event, Star Fit for Life of health and fitness, sports, leisure, beauty and wellness. Touted to be Malaysia’s biggest Health & Wellness Fair, it is sponsored by Star Media Group, Great Eastern, Nestle Omega 3, etc. It is held from 21 – 23 April 2017 (Friday – Sunday) from 10:00am to 8:00pm at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

There will be free gifts for first 1,000 visitors each day and tomorrow being the last day, I hope to get something too and not be too late for it. In the car enroute to KL, I managed to redeem Manis App for free voucher of RM 10 online for a Papadelivery cheesecake. You have to purchase the 1kg cheese cake online and enter the Manis code of CHEESECAKE10 that is available only in Klang area and we shall collect it ourselves from PapaDelivery.my around 5:00pm before they close at 6:00pm on Sundays.

There are 4 types of cheesecakes and I chose Oreo cheesecake, all priced at RM99 for 1 kg. With the voucher, you pay RM 89. It is not cheap but to justify the many snappings of receipts, this will make me satisfied and an incentive to keep snapping for more free vouchers such as this. It is my third redemption with the first being RM 20 bodyshop products purchased online using a code and the second one being a physical RM 10 MPH voucher that was posted to me.

I also borrowed some cash from my boss to pay for expenses incurred by credit card since my cash was put into Fixed Deposit. Next month May, he will deduct my income for the cash borrowed like he did for all his other workers who may need to borrow money now and then.
