Happy New Year! January 1, 2016 bizadmin Here is to wish you, my dear readers, a Happy and Prosperous New Year in 2016! Well, as I have said, I have not set any resolutions for myself but just keep on going, doing the things that I love and continue to work from a home office. As long as God blesses me with good health for me and my colleagues and boss, we are able to overcome the odds and deliver work to our clients around Malaysia. 2015 had been a good year for me and I wish likewise for this year 2016. Without any children in the picture, we are able to travel anytime, plan for local holidays in any hotels and drive long distances to commute between Penang and Kuala Lumpur for business and work.
Merry Christmas 2015 December 21, 2015 bizadmin I would like to wish everyone here a very merry Christmas. I just came back from a 1 night stay in Langkawi, flying there by Firefly where the flight was delayed by an hour from Penang to Langkawi. It was a last-minute decision and I book the hotel, airfare and car rental the night before we departed. We stayed at My Hotel for $210 per night with delicious buffet breakfast included. It was right smack in town center in Kuah where you can find all the shopping malls, banks and other outlets. We bought lots of cashew nuts, pistachios, chocolate and a chocolate flavoured liquer, all for almost $300. I also bought 2 batik long housecoat pyjamas and my partner bought a very nice jeans-clothed haver sack with groovy metal trimmings.
Received 3 Boxes of Chocolates December 14, 2015 bizadmin Since my second sister came out from UK with her husband of 2 months, I received 3 boxes of chocolates from her plus a few other gifts. She is very generous but a spendthrift and her money disappears in no time. But she is blessed; people are willing to give her money for her entertaining company. She can be quite mischievous at times, but otherwise a pleasant person to be with. No matter what, I still prefer the company of my soulmate who really takes good care of me. We stay together in a small condo that is undergoing much refurbishment and new businesses moving in. Hopefully, this will increase the value of the condo towers and the residents are happy and curious at the same time of the future complete refurbishment.
Entered Purchase Receive Documents December 5, 2015 bizadmin Since the last few days, I have entered a total of 28 purchase receive documents for GST input tax claims from customs for the month of October and November. Since I have yet to receive the tax invoices for December which will most likely be early January, I can only key in in January 2016 and submit payment before the second week of January. Some of the figures don’t tally at all despite using Netiquette like the associate company of s hm which always has a difference of $3.60, giving out weird numbers that are totally different from Netiquette which is a cloud GST system. We have to pay $500 per year just to use Netiquette plus the services of a freelance accountant that comes to my home office to help out with the GST software and payment online.
Computer Crash November 28, 2015 bizadmin I got a fatal system error C000021a which was a system crash on my old laptop of 7 years. So, yesterday, in a desperate attempt, called up several technicians and only 1 turned up at my place to solve the problem. He stayed for well over 5 hours, formatting my hard disk and partitioning into 2 drives while installing more than 200 games on my business laptop without my knowledge. Hence this morning, I had a tough time deleting all the games one by one from the computer. I don’t play games and my computer is solely for work purposes. Even after charging us RM 212 with GST, the computer has problem in installing the printer driver and he has to come again. I don’t know and have no inkling what he did to my pc that I am now unable to install the printer driver for work.
Went to the Pavilion in KL November 14, 2015 bizadmin Pavilion is similar to Gurney Plaza in Penang, an upscale shopping mall but it was much bigger in space and shopping lots. There was an SK-II cosmetics promotion recently on the ground floor and having visited the tour, I was given a bottle of jelly beans, a bouquet of flowers and key-chain. Very generous of them, despite me not purchasing any cosmetics from them. It was our first visit to Pavilion and we dined at Dragon-I Restaurant where I had the abalone set. I have been to other major shopping malls in KL, namely, 1-Utama, KLCC Suria, The Curve, The Gardens Mall, Empire Shopping Gallery, Sunway Pyramid, amongst others.
Back from Southampton, UK October 31, 2015 bizadmin I went to Southampton, UK to attend my sister’s wedding to her coursemate, also a Phd research student from 21st till 29th October 2015. We went there by Malaysia Airlines Berhad, formerly known as MAS, before the new CEO took over. We stayed at 4-star Mercury Dolphin Hotel in Southampton which is right smack in the city and very convenient. Directly opposite was a chinese restaurant across the road. My sister was married at St Edmund’s Catholic Church by the parish priest. Overall, the trip was good but tiring due to the time zone difference of 8 hours. The flight duration was 13 hours and 10 minutes from KLIA to Heathrow Airport, London. Then my youngest sister book a 4-wheel drive KIA Sportage to take in all our huge luggages and drove with GPS to our hotel in Southampton. It is about 80 km from London. My second sister is living her dream after another dream and they will go to Lake Como for their honeymoon sometime in November. It borders Italy and Switzerland.
Going Down South Next Week September 25, 2015 bizadmin I shall be going to KL next week, either on a Monday or Tuesday morning for the 3pm interview at a potential client’s place. If we head down on Monday, then we would have to stay overnight at my apartment and it will not be so rushed during the journey. There could be unforeseen circumstances like car breaking down which had happened in the past and we had to cancel the important interview with more than 8 persons waiting for our presence. Anyway, we got another car, bigger and more robust this time despite being second hand Mercedes which has very low mileage. It is actually an S280 but the previous owner, Datuk Ali, changed it to S500. That’s the typical case of creating an impression on the roads. LOL! We were stopped by police on bikes once for suspicion of being potential drug peddlars, but all they found in our car boot were synthetic turf samples and lots of them in boxes. Hence, we were let off. Another time, we were fined just because the car number plate was not the conventional type and it was customised to look better and sleekier.
