Now in Kuala Lumpur

I arrived in Kuala Lumpur just 2 days ago for business. We visited a site which took 45 minutes by car to reach at Seminyih from Subang Jaya. On the way back, we went to IOI City Mall situated halfway along the journey. Boy, it was huge with lots of walking space for the patrons and it has a revolving Chinese New Year blossom tree right smack in the main atrium. If I am not wrong, there were 5 floors of shopping lots with a skating ring on the side. Our relative, who is the sole distributor for Brooks, opened a store on the 3rd floor. Just pay it a visit if you happen to drop by IOI City Mall. After that, we drove to Daiman Mall in Subang Jaya to see its furbishings and new shop lots. Jaya’s Grocer was there with a bigger space as compare to Main Place. After browsing around for a few minutes visiting almost all the floors, we chilled out at Starbucks and got red packets for purchase above $28.

Merry Christmas 2015

I would like to wish everyone here a very merry Christmas. I just came back from a 1 night stay in Langkawi, flying there by Firefly where the flight was delayed by an hour from Penang to Langkawi. It was a last-minute decision and I book the hotel, airfare and car rental the night before we departed. We stayed at My Hotel for $210 per night with delicious buffet breakfast included. It was right smack in town center in Kuah where you can find all the shopping malls, banks and other outlets.

We bought lots of cashew nuts, pistachios, chocolate and a chocolate flavoured liquer, all for almost $300. I also bought 2 batik long housecoat pyjamas and my partner bought a very nice jeans-clothed haver sack with groovy metal trimmings.

Air Canada

My second sister who is out with her Caucasian British hubby from the United Kingdom had been to Canada before; but I have never been there and might like to check out Air Canada to book online and see the fabulous view of nature, the hanging flora and fauna and scenic mountains. It is either New Zealand or Canada which is high on my list of countries to visit next time. I love traveling and have been to 20 countries already including various parts of Europe. In fact, my 2 younger sisters have been to more countries that I have since I am always busy with work and traveling by car shuttling between Penang and Kuala Lumpur.

Back from Southampton, UK

I went to Southampton, UK to attend my sister’s wedding to her coursemate, also a Phd research student from 21st till 29th October 2015. We went there by Malaysia Airlines Berhad, formerly known as MAS, before the new CEO took over. We stayed at 4-star Mercury Dolphin Hotel in Southampton which is right smack in the city and very convenient. Directly opposite was a chinese restaurant across the road. My sister was married at St Edmund’s Catholic Church by the parish priest. Overall, the trip was good but tiring due to the time zone difference of 8 hours. The flight duration was 13 hours and 10 minutes from KLIA to Heathrow Airport, London. Then my youngest sister book a 4-wheel drive KIA Sportage to take in all our huge luggages and drove with GPS to our hotel in Southampton. It is about 80 km from London. My second sister is living her dream after another dream and they will go to Lake Como for their honeymoon sometime in November. It borders Italy and Switzerland.

Stayed at Maritime Waterfront Hotel

On 30th August, a Sunday, we stayed at Maritime Waterfront Hotel, choosing the Executive Suite for $448 per night plus another $3 for the Penang government. It was to celebrate our 12th Anniversary together and it seems to be a long time with its many challenges of working together and sharing a life as soul mates with its ups and downs. Above is a picture of 2 swans pecking together made from white towels. Rose petals were scattered on the side table with 2 red hearts cut out from paper.

Here is a view from the Sky Garden of Maritime Waterfront Hotel, possible a 4-star hotel with a swimming pool and gym. For $448, buffet breakfast is included for 2. It includes nasi lemak, fried noodles, various cereals, veggies, milk, juices and muffins.

crab-claws

For dinner, we drove to the nearby hawker centre in Sungai Pinang which is just 3 minutes away. My spouse ordered several dishes, amongst them crab claws as shown above for $12 a plate of 3 pieces. It has chopped vegetables mixed with crab meat, patted into a dough on crab claw and deep fried for a sumptuous meal.

scallops

We also ordered scallops, garnished with stir-fried garlic for $12 a plate as well for 2 pieces. It was finished in one mouthful which was yummy. This particular hawker centre has 42 different stalls and many varieties of affordable food to choose from. For my main meal, I had sliced grouper in soup with thin noodles, mixed with sliced ginger for an ‘oopmh’ taste that lingers on the taste buds. Hope you like the pictures taken in my iPhone 6 and emailed over without using any Photoshop to resize or edit the pictures.

Booked Mercure Dolphine Southampton Hotel

Yesterday, I booked 4-star Mercure Dolphine Southampton Hotel in UK for 7 nights and 2 rooms for 4 adults – my parents, myself and youngest sister. The total cost without breakfast with VAT or GST here comes to around Great Britain pounds of 973 or almost 70 per night per room. My second sister is getting married there and her friend will cook for us. Plus the fact that there are several restaurants nearby including Chinese and Western food. I booked through booking.com and will only pay upon checking out on the last day. It will be sometime in October, during autumn. I shall miss my spouse and he will be all alone here.

Back on Tuesday

I am now in KL since Thursday night and stay over the weekend in my apartment before meeting a client on Tuesday and then depart back to Penang. On Wednesday, will go for a cruise to the high seas for 1 night 2 days on SuperStar Libra for $447 per couple. There will be buffet dinner on board and entertainment show as well. On Friday, will celebrate my birthday with family members at a Chinese restaurant with 6 dishes comprising of fake sharks’ fin soup with crab meat, half roasted chicken with prawn crackers, green vegetable in soup, crab and scallops omelette wrapped in lettuce, ‘ee-fu’ noodles with crab meat, and seaweed with fish ball soup – all for $240 excluding peanuts, drinks, GST and service charge.

Phuket, Krabi Cruise Shelved

The Penang, Phuket and Krabi cruise for 4 days 3 nights scheduled for August, my mother’s birthday month, has been shelved. I was prepared to pay for 3 persons with both my parents tagging along, but since mum does not want dad to follow and it is no fun for 2 persons, then I have decided to go with my partner for 2 days 1 night cruise to the high seas departing next week. The tickets are confirmed and room already checked in online for easier passage, instead of filling up long forms at the counter. It is also my birthday month and the cruise would be suitable for me. I am sure I will enjoy this cruise more than going with a parent where you don’t have the freedom to do the things you love.
