Google Doodle series will thank coronavirus helpers over the next two weeks

Last week, Google released a simple and moving ad thanking healthcare workers around the world for combating COVID-19. The company is now continuing that praise by saying thank you to all coronavirus helpers with a series of Google Doodles over the next two weeks.

This week, we’re beginning a series of Doodles to recognize the many people responding to COVID-19 — from doctors and nurses caring for people on the front lines, to teachers and food service workers ensuring essential goods and services are still available

This Google Doodles series — usually reserved for multi-week sporting events like the Olympics and World Cup — coincides with National Public Health Week in the US.

The first thanks public health workers and researchers in the scientific community. Given that there will be several Doodles in this series, Google is using the same basic format where the “G” sends heart/thanks/appreciation/respect to a themed “e” at the end.

Monday’s features graphs depicting curves, while the one tomorrow sees the last letter dressed in scrubs. The Search homepage at the bottom notes who Google is recognizing that day.

How to Adapt to Staying At Home During Coronavirus Quarantine

[abc]

The novel coronavirus or COVID-19 has taken a toll on the economy and health of the people worldwide. It is in total lockdown for many countries, just like what China did. As an aside, the Americans were joking that COVID-19 stands for the Chinese Originated Virus in December 2019. Well, I beg to differ and take it with a grain of salt.

With the Movement Control Order (MCO) or Restricted Movement Order (RMO), many people are confined to the walls of their home. Only the head of the family is allowed to come out and buy foodstuff, the ubiquitous toilet rolls and the necessary items for the household. Even schools and universities are closed while online courses are going on for the fortunate ones who can afford internet connectivity and a computer.

What about the rest of the people?

  • Well for one, they can watch Netflix for free and paid television broadcasting stations are offering more free channels to watch during this timeframe of COVID-19.
  • If they have exercise equipment in the home like a treadmill, then they can start exercising to lose the bulge instead of being stagnant, sleeping and a couch potato. Jogging and exercising in public places is a big no-no and may get you arrested by the police.
  • For others, they can pay to learn online courses and upgrade themselves. This is the perfect time to learn a new skill to while away time.
  • And for the workaholics, like yours truly, can start to look for work online to tide over during this difficult time of unemployment since the bosses cannot afford the salaries of employees anymore due to the business coming to a complete halt and not running at all. Hence there is no more income but more and more expenses like paying the rents, utility bills, etc. May employees might be laid off too during this temporary lockdown.
  • During this quarantine, people can also humor themselves by reading comical books, since laughter is the Best Medicine. It is important to keep the spirits up and have a strong immune system to fight this perilous virus that not only spreads through droplets such as coughing but is now airborne for a few hours as well.
  • The housewives can spend more time cooking and learning new recipes; instead of nagging at their husbands where the divorce rate was reportedly increased in China during this total lockdown at that point in time in Wuhan, the epicenter of the virus.
  • For the parents, they can start bonding with their children and home school them. Those with pets, can play and train their pets new skills or simply being together for moral support.

Summary

In a nutshell, there are many useful and profitable activities to do during the quarantine period of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19 in short. It is very pertinent that you keep your mind active and occupied and happy. There are repercussions to our own actions! Hence it is better to stay at home and stay safe. Don’t add to the statistics of those infected or those who died.
