Was in Genting Awana a Few Days Ago

I was in KL for business and went down to Melaka and Johor before heading back to KL to stay for 1 night and then off, we went to Genting Awana Golf Resort Hotel to stay for a night. All the hotels right at the top of the mountain were fully booked, leaving only Awana still available midway to the top. The good thing is that it comes with breakfast for our superior deluxe room with 2 queen sized beds. Our room was relatively larger than the next room which looked rather cramped inside. Just opposite Genting Awana, there were major construction going on and perhaps they are building another hotel to cater to the increasing demands of the tourists. The number does not seem to abate despite lack of room freebies and breakfast in First World Hotel.

Plane Take Off from Penang International Airport

Above is my video capture using my iPhone 6 of Firefly taking off from Penang International Airport. When the engines started to fire, it zoomed past very fast for some time before lift off. I have more videos to show but apparently the upload to computer from my iPhone is very slow due to limited storage on both my iPhone and the computer. On Friday, I will travel by car to Ipoh to meet up with a potential business client taking 2 hours on the road or less. Just the other day, I received a Singapore cheque for only a mere S$1.54 for royalty on my book and the charge for the transaction for the cheque to clear is RM 30 without including the postage. So, I might as well, don’t bank in and keep it.

Went to KL 5 Times Last Month

Last month, I went to KL 5 times; once per week or so. The first time was by car. The next 4 times by Firefly and back on the same day at night. The first 3 visits by air was to attend an interview by the same company while the last visit to KL was to another company. The air fares are not cheap, ranging from RM 700+ to over RM 1k return for 2 pax. The good thing flying with Firefly is that we get to enter premium lounge for free if you purchase MAB tickets where Firefly is a subsidiary of MAB, formerly more well known as MAS. This month in April, it is still too early whether I will go down to KL that frequent or not, depending on the situation.

Flying Down South

Tomorrow, my colleague and myself will be flying down via Firefly to KL, departing at 9:30am and arriving Subang Terminal Airport an hour later. There after, we shall rent Hertz which had been booked already to visit a potential client and then have lunch before going for a second interview at 4:30pm. Thereafter, we will have dinner and return the rented car and wait at Subang Airport for our flight home, departing at 8pm should there be no further delay. The return air flights from Penang to KL cost us $1,055 while the Hertz car rental was $288 for an auto proton saga. Last week, we also flew down just for a day for the first interview with the same company. Hope we get the project if it is God’s will.

Came Back to Penang

I was in KL recently, having visited the Perfect International Ping Pong Championships near Acappella Hotel where we get to enter for free as guests. Our supplier from China installed the flooring for this match as we have bought materials in the past from them. My colleague was given a shaver while mine was a 100% blue silk shawl with nice flowery designs. We are treated lunch also at a KL club in a Chinese Restaurant. We visited 6-7 places including paying workers, collecting cheques, delivering materials, attending meetings, etc. This coming Sunday, we might just go to Kedah to meet up with a potential client and hopefully can confirm the project. Next week, on Wednesday, we might book Firefly tickets to fly down to KL to attend a meeting and return the same day. We also have to rent a car for the trip down to KL

Going Down South Tomorrow Morning

This year is a leap year with Feb 29 yesterday which occur every 4 years. So for leap year babies, celebrating their 16th Birthday would mean they are 64 on that day. Tomorrow, I shall be heading to KL in the morning for business. I am just a silent partner in this business, and do all the computer work in the background. I hardly attend meetings and even if I do, my business partner does most of the presentation and talking as he is the one who created the product and knows it inside out. He is a civil engineer by training while I am in computer technology. At a ripe old age of 65, he drives down to KL from Penang while taking short breaks to the restroom in Tapah rest and relax pit stops and in Bukit Merah. I guess I am still lucky to be employed for the last 13 years by the same company to work in a home office with EPF and SOCSO.

Came back from Kota Bahru Yesterday

2 days ago, I booked Firefly by MAS to Kota Bahru for 2 guests for $665 including seat allocation and taxes. After that I booked Hotel Perdana for 1 night for $280 which is right smack in town and very central and convenient. It is very near to KB mall where we went to have our dinner at Pizza Hut. I also booked the new Proton Saga from Hawk Rental for $180 for more than 1 day or 24 hours. We visited a client at a local school and was successful in getting a project which is slated to be completed by end of the month! It was a last minute thingy and that is why the need was urgent. The lady client is related to Kelantan royalty and they stay in a double storey bungalow with 4 cars, one of them a new Mercedes. There are 6 rooms in the bungalow and I enjoyed the trip; no doubt it was short as we had to come back and mobilise our workers after payment was done.

Going to Ipoh Tomorrow

Tomorrow, I shall be visiting 2 different places for business in Ipoh. We will set off at 10am to meet up with the first potential client and then another one after lunch at 3pm. Have to use GPS to guide us through rather than navigating via a map. In the good old days before GPS, we had to use our brains and figure out the directions of the map step by step. Now, with the convenience of GPS installed as an App on iPhone, it is easy peasy with voice directions along the trip. Just read in the press, that 400,000 workers will be jobless in China when its steel factory closes down. Furthermore, Shell will axe 10,000 jobs this year. Recession has started in Singapore in 2016. It is time for austerity drive and not to spend frivolously.
